This Study Aimed to Design An E-Learning Environment Based on A Generative Artificial Intelligence Model (ChatGPT) And Examine Its Effectiveness in Developing Both the Cognitive and Performance Dimensions of Digital Learning Capabilities (DLC) Among Undergraduate Students of the Digital Media Department at the University of Jeddah. A Quasi-Experimental Approach Was Adopted, Using A Pre-Test/Post-Test Control Group Design. The Sample Consisted Of (60) Students, Equally Divided into An Experimental Group That Studied Through the Proposed AI-Based Learning Environment, And A Control Group That Used a Traditional E-Learning Platform. Two Instruments Were Used: A Cognitive Achievement Test and a Final Product Evaluation Rubric Composed Of (24) Items Across (6) Performance-Related Dimensions. The Results Revealed Statistically Significant Differences Between the Two Groups in the Post-Test Scores (a ≤ 0.05), In Favor of the Experimental Group. These Findings Indicate the Effectiveness of The Proposed AI-Powered Learning Environment in Enhancing Students’ Digital Learning Capabilities, Both Cognitively and Practically. The Study Recommends Integrating Generative AI Models into The Design of University-Level E-Learning Courses, As They Offer Promising Opportunities to Support Student Engagement, Enrich the Learning Experience, And Improve Learning Outcomes Across Various Domains.
