The Effectiveness of a Counselling Program for Early Childhood Educators in Developing Preventive Sex Education and Enhancing Children's Self-Protection Skills in the Sultanate of Oman

The aim of this research is to develop a counselling program for early childhood education teachers in Oman to enhance sexual education among children. The goal is to equip teachers with appropriate knowledge, facts, and skills. The study employed a quasi-experimental method based on the design of experimental and control groups. The research sample consisted of 10 early childhood teachers in Muscat Governorate in the experimental group and 10 teachers in the control group. A sexual education scale was administered to both groups (experimental and control) before and after the implementation of the program to measure its effectiveness. The counselling program, consisting of 12 sessions delivered at a rate of three sessions per week, was applied only to the experimental group. The results showed equivalence between the experimental and control groups in the pre-test. However, the performance of the experimental group improved after the application of the program compared to their performance before its implementation. The findings indicated that the counselling program provided to the teachers had a significant positive impact on the experimental group.
