The current research aimed to construct a psychological burnout scale for postgraduate students in the faculties and departments of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at universities in the Northern Region. It also aimed to identify the level of psychological burnout among these students and to determine the significance of differences in burnout levels based on gender (male, female) and academic stage (Master’s, PhD). The researchers employed the descriptive survey method, as it was suited to the nature of the study. The research population consisted of 193 postgraduate students distributed across six universities in the Northern Region. To achieve the research objectives, the researchers developed the psychological burnout scale using a sample of 110 students (57% of the population), while the administration sample comprised 62 students (32.12% of the population). The psychometric properties of the scale were verified. Statistical data analysis involved the use of the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient, Spearman-Brown formula, percentage, Guttman formula, Cronbach’s alpha, the one-sample t-test, and the independent-samples t-test. Based on the research findings, the researchers concluded the following:
- The burnout scale is valid for use with postgraduate students in faculties and departments of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at universities in the Northern Region.
- Postgraduate students in faculties and departments of Physical Education and Sports Sciences exhibit a high level of burnout.
- There are significant differences in burnout levels between males and females, with females showing higher levels.
- There are significant differences in burnout levels, with master's students showing higher levels.
