Objectives: This study aimed to assess the level of Total Quality Management (TQM) implementation and employee performance and examine the relationship between them in Qassim Health Cluster hospitals within the context of healthcare transformation in Saudi Arabia.
Methodology: A descriptive-analytical quantitative survey design was used. The study population comprised 20,031 employees from different occupational categories across Qassim Health Cluster hospitals. The target sample was 477 employees selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through a questionnaire, with 435 valid responses included in the analysis, yielding a 91% response rate. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to perform the statistical tests.
Results: TQM implementation was high, with an overall mean of 3.57, while employee performance was also high, with a mean of 3.61. Customer focus ranked highest among the TQM dimensions (mean = 3.78), whereas participation and training ranked lowest (mean = 3.44), while remaining at a high level. A strong, positive, and statistically significant correlation was found between TQM implementation and employee performance (r = 0.88).
Recommendations: The study recommends strengthening TQM practices, with greater emphasis on employee participation and training, as well as enhancing motivation systems and a supportive work environment to improve employee performance.
